Charles E. Vanover, Sr., 72, of Owensboro passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013, at Owensboro Place. He was born on March 25, 1941 in McLean County, Kentucky to the late Rev. Charles and Helen Deno Vanover. He was a truck driver. He was a member of the Baptist faith and loved driving semi-trucks but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Agnes Elizabeth Gilmore; a great-grandchild; and two sisters, Martha Jean Vanover and Nancy Dowell. He is survived by his five children, Sheila Speed and Mary (David) Rue, both of Owensboro, Charles Vanover, Jr., Juanita Turner and Christopher Thomas all of Louisville; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four brothers, John (Margaret) Vanover of Hawesville, Neal (Faye) Vanover of Reed, James O. (Erlinda) Vanover of Nevada and Danny Vanover of Texas; four sisters, Ann (L.B.) Cox of Owensboro, Thelma Anderson of Florida, Ruth (Jackie) Horn of Owensboro, and Brenda (Billy) Ford of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home with Brother Ancle Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Calhoun Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
