Dorothy Slater, 69, of 1216 Independence Avenue, Owensboro, KY, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born November 27, 1943 in Evansville, IN to the late Felix and Mabel Burch Toon. She was employed with Omico Plastics as Safety Director and was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, playing scrabble, her children and pets.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Slater (2011), four brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her husband of 50 1/2 years, William Kenny Slater, two daughters, Gina Dowell and Katie Willis both of Owensboro, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, a sister, Rosie Bullock of Evansville, IN, two brothers, Jerry Toon of Tennessee and Ralph Toon of Evansville, IN
Services will be 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home.
She was dearly loved and will be truly missed by her family and many friends.

Worked with Dorothy @Omico for almost 30 yrs. she was a very kind person .

I worked with Dorothy at Omico. We shared many conversations, laughed, and cried. She was a very dear friend, I will miss her smiling face dearly. My prayers are with her loving family, you guys meant the world to her.
