Eddie Payne, 60, of Curdsville, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on April 29, 1953, in Daviess County to Leo Payne and Betty Powers McGrew. Eddie was retired from Field’s Packing Company where he worked for 37 years. He was a member of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed watching UK basketball, hunting, gardening and riding bicycles with his Curdsville friends, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by brother-in-laws, Donnie Winfield, Gary Winfield and Roger Simpson; and his stepdad, Charles McGrew. Surviving is his wife of 40 years, Carolyn Payne; his two sons, Louis (Terri) Payne and Eddie (Kelly) Payne, Jr. both of Curdsville; six grandchildren, Kaley, Isabella, Braxton and Wyatt Payne, and Andrew and Brandon Ferry; a sister, Linda (Wayne) Winfield of Owensboro; a brother, Terry (Maryann) Payne of Calhoun; in-laws, Kay Winfield, Pam Winfield, Jeff (Darlene) Winfield, Marty (Robin) Winfield, Patty Simpson and Diane (Bruce) Galloway; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with the Reverend Ray Goetz officiating. Burial will follow in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Kentucky/West Virginia Chapter, 1941 Bishop Lane, Ste. 108, Louisville, KY 40218.
