Gene Bowlds, 71 of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born December 21, 1943 in Owensboro, KY to the late Austin and Robbie Peveler Bowlds. He graduated from Owensboro Catholic High and Brescia University and attended the University of Cincinnati. He was an entrepreneur, started Thermo-Tilt Window Co. and owned Whitney Oil & Gas. He was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral. He loved UK Basketball and always attended Owensboro Catholic High School football games. Aside from his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother James Bowlds. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carolyn Aull Bowlds, stepfather, Robert Wade of Graham, KY, children, Jimmy (Audrey) Bowlds of Owensboro, Jason (Brandi) Bowlds of Indianapolis, IN, Brandon (Susie) Bowlds, Ryan Bowlds, both of Lexington, Whitney Bowlds of Owensboro, Natalie (Dana) Christensen of Santa Fe, New Mexico, ten grandchildren, Cooper, Jamison, Wesley, Harrison, Griffin, Sophia, Addie, Grant, Holden, and Elaina, who he adored. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Stephen Cathedral with Father Suneesh Matthew officiating. Visitation will be at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. and on Monday from 9 to 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
