Helen Blandford

Helen Blandford, 90, of Owensboro, passed away March 18, 2014 at Heartford House. She was born August 6, 1923 in Daviess County, Kentucky to the late John W. and Phronia Jennings Vowells. She retired from G.E. after 33 years and was a charter member of Lewis Lane Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. Aside from her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, William J. Blandford (2013), three sisters and two brothers. Surviving is a son, William Kevin (Gena) Blandford of Owensboro, a daughter, Cynthia (Randall) Denney of Tuscaloosa, AL, four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a sister, Barbara Ann Cox of Owensboro. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home with Brother David Wiggins officiating and entombment in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home and from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Western KY, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301 or to Lewis Lane Baptist Church, 2600 Lewis Lane, Owensboro, KY 42301.
