Ima Axley, 66, of Owensboro, passed away on Sat., March 17, 2018, at home under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born on March 24, 1951 in Logan Co. Kentucky to the late James and Etoy Rust Roten. She was retired from Bishop Sonneker Elementary School where she worked as a cook for 10 years. She was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church. Ima enjoyed reading, crocheting and volunteering at church. She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Truman, Ray and Roy Roten. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, David Axley; her daughter, Christina Axley of Owensboro; two brothers, Bennie and Stanley Roten both of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 10 am Tuesday at Precious Blood Catholic Church with Father Suneesh Mathew officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. The family of Mrs. Axley will welcome family and friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory. Prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory is both honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mrs. Axley.
