Irene Tweddell, 85 of Owensboro passed away on March 3, 2014 at her home. She was born on October 3, 1928 in Butler County to the late Eldon and Audrey Hammers Bowers. She was retired as a tube operator from General Electric after 30 years. She was a member of Kirk Memorial Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Delbert and Elbert Bowers. Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Bill Tweddell; a daughter, Dianne Peyton and her late husband, Gene of Owensboro; one grandson, Patrick Peyton of Owensboro; two sisters, Faye Ford of Belton, KY., and Sue Shemwell of Elkton, KY.; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11:00am. Thursday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Visitation at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home from 4:00 to 8:00pm. Wednesday and from 10:00 to 11:00am. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Dr. Dennis McFadden will officiate. The family requests that expression of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice of Western KY, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, KY. 42301 and Alzheimer’s Care, Wellington Parc of Owensboro, 2885 New Hartford Road Owensboro, KY. 42303.
