J.D. Green, 81, of Owensboro, passed away Monday, January 12, 2015 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born February 10, 1933 in Ohio County to the late Everett Green and Alice Robinson Green Barnes. He retired from George Koch & Sons and was a member of Harvest Vision Church. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving in the Korean War. He enjoyed playing guitar, lifting weights, boxing, riding his bike and loved going to church, his kids, grandchildren and pets. Aside from his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Green (1992) and two brothers, Donald Lee Green and Wendell RC Green. Surviving are his children, Martrese Wilkins, Sherry (David) Scott, Debbie Wilkins, all of Owensboro, Rocky Green of Livermore, Don (Gail) Green of Hartford, Aleada (Ronnie) Wilkins of Owensboro, Wendell Green of Alabama, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and one brother, James (Norma) Barnes of North Carolina. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home with Brother Steve Murphy officiating and burial to follow in Nickel Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Harvest Vision Church, 2242 US Highway 431 N, Livermore, KY 42352. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
