Lee Ann Fischer Schrecker, 61, of Stanley, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018 surrounded by her family under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky after a brief illness. On January 16, 1957 she was born to Donald and the late Vivian Reed Fischer of Rome. Lee Ann married the love of her life, George J. Schrecker on May 19, 1984. Lee Ann graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School in 1975 and from Brescia College in 1983. She was a devout Catholic and a long-time member of St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church in Stanley where she was also the office manager for the past 8 years. She loved her bunco group of high school friends, spending time with family, and being “WaWa” to her granddaughters. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, George Schrecker, daughters Erin (James) Conkright of Owensboro and Bridgett Schrecker of Stanley, granddaughters Charlotte and Amelia Conkright, father Donald Fischer, brothers Tony (Theresa) Fischer and Joe (Marcie) Fischer, all of Rome, many cousins, nieces, and nephews. A funeral Mass will be at 10 am on Monday, January 29 at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church, with burial to follow at the St. Peter Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 Sunday, with prayers being said at 6:00 pm, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory, and from 8 to 9:15 Monday, at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses of UofL Hospital 6 South and the entire staff of the Heartford House.
