Leo Payne, 65, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at his home. He was born May 20, 1949 in Daviess County, KY to the late Carlton “Monk” and Mary Ellen Donahue Payne. He retired from Owensboro Grain, was a member of AmVets, VFW and Eagles. He enjoyed playing shuffleboard, watching NASCAR and UK and singing karaoke. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and his great granddaughter. Aside from his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Payne (2008), four brothers, Carl, Darrel, Joe, and James Payne and three sisters, Linda Lopez, Emma Swift and Shirley Payne. Surviving is his wife, Carolyn Payne; children, Melissa Gay Gant, Carlton Leo (Jenney) Payne and Krystal Kinison, all of Owensboro; six grandchildren, Chelsea (Adam) Millay, Grant Payne, Paige Payne, Terren Kinison, Jamen Kinison and Nakalah Kinison; one great granddaughter, Maci Millay; two sisters, Liz Fulkerson and Patti Lloyd, both of Peoria, IL; one brother, Tommy (Robin) Payne of Rome, GA; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Hall officiating and burial to follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Fraternal Order of Eagles Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Western KY, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
