Rex Marsh, Sr., 97, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, surrounded by family and friends. He was born on November 18, 1920 in Monticello, Kentucky to the late William T. Marsh and Lina E. Carter Marsh. Rex retired from Don Moore Automotive. He was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army and served during World War II, and was a member of the Forty & Eight Veteran’s Organization. He was also a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. Rex loved photography, tinkering, telling stories and swinging on the back porch. He enjoyed carpentry and built several houses in Owensboro. But most of all he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He is preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Sarah A. Marsh, his brothers Arnold and Zeddy, his sisters Vela, Melba, Lina “Sissy”, Thelma, and Eunice and his granddaughter Vicki Wink. Surviving are his 5 children Judy Wink (Vincent), William Marsh (Martha), Rex Marsh, Jr. (Lisa), Linda Peterson and Donna Brown (Jim); 14 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren and 22 nieces and nephews. Services will be 10:00 am Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Visitation will be 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, May 4, 2018, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory, and from 8:30 am to 9:30 am on Saturday, with Father Pat Reynolds officiating. Prayers will be said 4:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff on the 8th floor of Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for their exceptional care and kindness shown during Rex’s stay with them. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Western Kentucky; 3419 Wathens Crossing; Owensboro, KY 42301-9989 or Our Lady of Lourdes Building Fund; 4029 Frederica Street; Owensboro, Kentucky 42301.     I have not seen you or any of your family in so many years but I have not forgotten you. You and your children were a part my life. I taught some of the girls at ‘Catholic High’s Kindergarten. You were a very helpful parent.
