CW4 Roy H. (Bub) Reed, 85 of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Wellington Parc. He was born August 16, 1926 in Daviess County to the late Clarence and Dora Terry Reed. He was a retired U.S. Army veteran and a retired U.S. Federal Government employee after 37 years. He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 817. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. Aside from his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years, Lena Reed (2000), a son. Warren Douglas, a brother, Charles (Red) Reed and a sister, Wilma Payne. He is survived by his children, Remonda (Jerry) Maynard of Lexington, KY, Marilyn Wood of Owensboro, Debbie (Rickie) Kelley of Whitesville, Dawn (Jeff) Cecil of Baseal, Switzerland, ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Vivian Fischer of Owensboro. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Precious Blood Catholic Church with Father Bruce McCarty officiating and burial to follow with full honors by U.S. Army and VFW Post 696 Honor Guard in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home in the South Chapel and from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Kentucky and Southern Indiana Chapter Kaden Tower, 6100 Dutchmans Lane Suite 401, Louisville, KY 40205-3284.
