Suellen McKay, 75, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015 under the care of Hospice of Western KY. She was born August 5, 1939 in Daviess County to the late Lewis and Martha Gerteisen. She was a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution and Eastern Star. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, camping, cooking, playing basketball and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers. She was self-employed, owning and operating McKay’s Monogramming for 55 years. She is also preceded in death by a son, Roger Lewis McKay (1994), four brothers and one sister. Surviving is her husband, Charles McKay, two sons, Shawn McKay and Paul McKay, three grandchildren, Shawna, Rebekah (Eddy) and Cole, five great grandchildren and one brother, Donald Gerteisen of Tallahassee, FL. A Memorial Service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home with Brother Damon Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 12 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the exceptional staff of Hospice of Western KY for the loving care given to Mrs. McKay.
