Vernon Henderson, 83, of Owensboro passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on September 16, 1930, in Butler County to the late George and Pansy Flenor Henderson. He was retired as an independent truck driver. He was a member of the Baptist faith. Vernon enjoyed playing Bingo, attending stock car racing, hanging out with his family and friends at the 8-Ball Restaurant, but most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Richeson Henderson in 2002; two brothers, Gene and Dean Henderson; four sisters, Brenda Embry, Betty Ambs, Tressie Embry and Vinalee Nance. He is survived by one son, Vernon Darrell Henderson of Owensboro; five daughters, Barbara K. (Keith) Stites, Karen Henderson, Bonnie (Roger) Hardin, Cathy Henderson (T.J. Law), and Donna McLevain all of Owensboro; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one brother, Michael Henderson of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at noon Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Ohio County.
