Wavard Cox, 71, of Owensboro, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014 at the Heartford House. He was born October 10, 1942 in Butler County to the late Walter and Iva Johnson Cox. He was a retired bricklayer and enjoyed fishing, playing cards, hunting, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Aside from his parents, he is preceded in death by five brothers, Audley, Odell, Nelson, W.L. and Denzel Cox. Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Geraldine Roberts Cox; children, Donna (Tony) Edgell, Wavard Allen (Angie) Cox, all of Owensboro, Tammy (James) Coon of Sacramento; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Normadine Embry; and one brother, Clavard Cox. Services will be 12 p.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home with Brother Kenny Stone officiating and burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.   4. Every Easter we all get together at Mom and Dads for a meal and egg hunt, this year a few days before my Dad was told he couldn’t eat solid food, he was kinda dreading Easter because of all that food being there I offered to call it off but he wouldn’t do
