We prepare for what might happen when we have home insurance in case of storms or fires, and car insurance in case of an accident. Many states even require car insurance before you can legally drive! Your personal conviction to purchase life insurance to aid those you leave behind should also cause you to take action. Because we do not like thinking about death—we avoid making important final decisions in advance. All of these decisions can be made at one time with us or even in the comfort of your own home.

Our intent is to serve you and help your family plan funeral arrangements before the need arises. Because we believe a funeral is a celebration of a life lived and should be a true reflection of those memories, Haley-McGinnis provides you with facts that will bring you to an informed decision and ease the burden before the need arises. We are here to make the process easier and help eliminate any guilt or regret that might come with telling you about things that need to be done at a time of death, remembering to play that favorite song, or sharing those pictures of your family with your friends on a memory board during a visitation. Remember, arranging today, before the death, is handling a family matter. Arranging at the time of death is dealing with a family crisis.

When compared to major life cycle events, like births and weddings, a funeral is avoided because it is not a happy event. As a result, when a loved one is in need of funeral service the family should be able to pay its respect, not their entire life savings. At Haley-McGinnis, we offer the best value in funeral insurance and pre-planning programs available. We have a full-time pre-need advisor on staff so that we are able to design a program that conveniently fits your budget and needs, as well as your wishes.

FUNDING OPTIONS

When you pre-plan a funeral service, you may also decide to pay for the service in advance too. There are many ways to pay for a service in advance, all of which not only relieve the emotional burden of planning a service at a time of need but alleviate many of the financial responsibilities as well.

Haley-McGinnis is a participant in the Funeral Funding Trust of Kentucky. We can provide all the details on this fund. The Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky (for the use of its client members) sponsors the fund. When you pay for your funeral in advance, Kentucky law requires that funds paid to the funeral home be placed in a special revocable or irrevocable trust. The 6th largest U.S. Bank money manager and the 10th largest banking organization in the United States manages this trust.

By pooling many small trusts into one large master trust, the highest possible earnings can be achieved under the guidance and protection of professional management. When death occurs, payment is promptly made to the funeral director by the master trust. 100% of your money is deposited into the trust and its interest earnings are retained in your account and are compounded.

There is no cost to a person to join the trust, as the trust manager pays a $5.00 fee to the Attorney General for the Commonwealth as required by Kentucky law. The cost of your funeral arrangement is determined in the contract by the service you select. The trust choice is dependent upon each participant's needs and evaluations. Money placed in the revocable trust can be withdrawn at any time, but only by the individual. Money placed in the irrevocable trusts cannot be withdrawn and is only payable to the funeral home at the time of death. This option is beneficial for a recipient of SSI, Medicare/Medicaid, and family members who require placement in extended and assisted living facilities.

Haley-McGinnis is also a representative for several of the largest funeral insurance programs in the United States. A program and payment plan can be designed and selected especially for your specific needs. There are policies that allow monthly premiums, annual premiums, and programs that allow for full payment over a period of years. Normally, people opt to pay the whole amount at one time.

Insurance companies increase the amount of coverage with a one-time pay, which is an extra insulator from inflation. Placing your money in this type of funeral policy allows us to guarantee the price of a funeral. These policies are issued only through a funeral provider and designed specifically for final expenses. We have policies that do not have any health questions and some that are guaranteed issue, regardless of your circumstance or situation.

Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home offers what we believe to be the best value in funeral insurance available. Our full-time pre-need adviser will design a program that conveniently fits your budget and your needs.

We will also file any outside life insurance policies for your family and accept assignments on policies that you may have. We work with Human Resources Departments in many of our local workplaces to expedite the claim for your survivors for those who have life insurance through employers.

When people have neglected to pre-plan and pre-pay for their final expenses, it is indeed a financial hardship on many families. We can make suggestions to keep your costs low while you can be assured our service quality is equal for all. Every effort will be made to accommodate you with a method of payment that will be responsive to your particular circumstances.
