Dean Ewing, 50, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019. He was born in Owensboro on March 3, 1969 to the late Gloria Dean Ewing. He worked as a production operator at Mizkan for 12 years. Dean was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church. He was an avid sports fan and specially enjoyed UK basketball, Notre Dame football and the Chicago Bears. As a defensive tackle, “Baby” Dean Ewing was the “anchor” for the 1986 Class 3A State Football Champions at Owensboro High School. Above all, Dean was most proud of his family. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Melanie Rose Warren Ewing, his children, Trace (Taylor) Ewing, Taylor (Sarah) Ewing, Natalie Ewing, his sister, Joy Pogue, and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be 11:00 am Monday, April 1, 2019 at Precious Blood Catholic Church, with Father Suneesh Matthew officiating. Private burial will follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory, and again from 9:00 am to 11:00 am Monday at the church. Prayers will be 7 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
