Iona “Sue” Tomes, 69, formerly of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, October 21 at Riverside Care and Rehabilitation in Calhoun, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born on August 8, 1948, in Cleaton, KY, to the late Leonard Earl and Delfie Lee Uzzle Doss. She was a homemaker, enjoyed collecting antiques, and singing karaoke with friends. She was a member of Full Gospel Tabernacle Church in Owensboro. She was also preceded in death by a brother Drew Doss, a half-sister Elizabeth Cunningham and the father of her children, David Tomes. She is survived by three daughters, Melanie (Mike) Russelburg, Tabatha (Scott) Carman, and Penny Howell, all of Owensboro, her grandsons Tristan (Morgan) Russelburg, Jonathan (Erin Fleischmann) Russelburg, Jared Winters, Dylan Winters and Cole Howell, granddaughter Kenlee Howell, step-grandson Jason (Amanda) Carman, great-grandchildren Keegan Carman, Ava Winters, Kayla Carman and Grayson Russelburg, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside services will be held at Elmwood Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, with Pastor David Jones officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory.
