Michael “Mickey” Cole, 69, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Heartland Villa Center in Lewisport. Born Nov. 20, 1946, in Daviess County, he was the son of the late Dave and Beatrice Bollinger Cole. He retired from Central Bank & Trust where he worked as a banker for years. He was a member of the Baptist faith and was honored as a Kentucky Colonel He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, being outdoors, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and his loving four legged companion, Abby. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Karen Hardesty Cole; a brother, David (Becky) Cole of Lexington; a sister-in-law, Maureen Hardesty Jackson of Owensboro; a brother-in-law, Ron (Martha) Hardesty of Owensboro; five nieces and nephews; and five great-nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory with the Rev. Carl McCarthy officiating. A private burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Heartland Villa Center, 8005 US Hwy. 60 West, Lewisport, KY, 42351. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The Cole family extends a special thanks to the amazing staff at Heartland Villa who gave Mickey excellent care and love during the last year of his life.   1. I have fond memories of Mickey’s bright ready smile and his helpful, kind demeanor. Whenever my mother would return to Owensboro Mickey graciously and happily took her to visit family and friends. She often said his demeanor was much like my father’s.
