Nancy Grimes, 78, of Owensboro, passed away Friday, November 20, 2015 under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born October 7, 1937 in Owensboro to the late Amos Lee and Helen Richardson Whittaker. She was a member of Sts. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharist Minister. She enjoyed traveling, food, music and especially loved spending time with her family. Aside from her parents, she is preceded in death by 2 sons, John David Grimes and David Andrew Grimes and a sister, Martha Crisp. Surviving is her husband of 58 years, John Martin Grimes; 4 children, Janet (Joseph) Ruth of Owensboro, Mike (Mindy) Grimes of Nashville, Tom Grimes of San Francisco and Steve Grimes of Owensboro; 3 grandsons, Jeremie Ruth, David Ruth and Wilder Grimes; and 3 great grandchildren, Kayla Ruth, Van Ruth and Lilli Ruth. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Sts. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church with burial to follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory and from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Prayers will be said 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Right to Life of Owensboro, 1115 Tamarack Road, Owensboro, KY 42301 or to Hospice of Western KY, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301.
